COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT GROUP THERAPY

Why join a group?

  • The conversation is facilitated by a professional, licensed counselor, who introduces tactics to manage stress, relieve anxiety and overcome depression.

  • More behavioral health focused which is different than support groups led by volunteers (which are great too!).

  • Group is a safe place to talk about anything going on in your life.

  • Group provides a built in support system.

  • Group costs less than individual therapy.

  • Group builds confidence.

  • Group builds skills for managing depression and anxiety.

  • Group is consistent so you know each week you have a group of people waiting to support you. Group is intimate; no more than 8 people at a time in each group.

How do I join a group?

Call Connie at 407-760-5175 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

All members MUST be approved prior to joining the group. If you currently under psychiatric care or in therapy, you will be asked to sign a Release of Information form so that your doctor and therapist can coordinate treatment.

Are you in a difficult relationship?

A group is a safe place to talk about it, cry, and make good solid decisions about how to be healthy.  You will also be exposed to other's who may be going through the same thing, but responding in a different way.  Having awareness of these different tactics give you the skills and confidence to try new things,

Have you been through an abusive relationship?

You won't feel alone.  Women in the group are often amazed to hear their stories told through another member's life.

GROUP SCHEDULE

How Many People Are in a Group?

There are between 4-8 people in a group.

Do you need some non-judgmental support?
"Group is my no-judgment zone! When something happens during the week, I know I can come to group and get support and honest feedback.  It helps me let it go."

Do you feel like the only woman who struggles to get out of bed in the morning?

Group counseling tells you that you're not alone.  Fatigue is just one
of the many symptoms of depression.
"When I try to talk with my husband about my depression, he just doesn't understand.  Here, I know people understand what it's like to be depressed."

Have you been trying to act "normal" while feeling anxious?
In a group, you learn why and meet others who feel the same
way.
"I can hardly believe it.  I haven't had a single panic attack in months!"
